Account Guidelines

Collapse

As the population of online internet gaming increases, so too, do issues regarding stolen or compromised accounts, and/or accounts that have been transferred from one player to another in violation of the User Agreement. These issues (and the time it takes to investigate and attempt to resolve them) hugely detract from the time that that SWG: Prophecy's Customer Service Staff have to provide quality, customer service. Accordingly, SWG: Prophecy must remind all players, that:

  1. Account security (whether it be password protection, running virus checks, disabling file sharing, or any other element of making sure accounts are not stolen or compromised) is the responsibility of the account owner.

  2. Any and all stolen and/or compromised accounts that are reported to SWG: Prophecy Staff, may be *suspended*, in addition to any account connected to compromised account, in order to conduct an official and thorough investigation. If characters on the account are deleted maliciously by someone, a member of CSR Staff may offer a way to restore said character. Experience points that are lost, due to the restoration of this nature, will NOT be reimbursed.

  3. Any player found to be involved in an account theft, may have any and all of his/her accounts terminated. Prior to take any action against account that are reported as compromised, we will conduct a thorough review of the accounts and determine the best possible, and appropriate, course of action. Accounts will only face disciplinary action based on information that have been gathered through our investigation and not as a result of external allegations.

Multiple Accounts are NOT ALLOWED. You may only have one (1) account, per person, per household. Additional accounts that are created, without authorization, will be terminated, with the original account, receiving an infraction for having an unauthorized, multiple account. Exceptions to this policy, can be made, should you have a multi-person household, wishing to play on the servers of SWG: Prophecy. For more information, please review our Multiple Account Policies.

Multiple Account Authorizations, can and WILL be revoked, for any and all accounts that fail to maintain, good standing, status.

You MAY NOT share accounts on SWG: Prophecy. An account is granted to you, for only, you. It is considered account sharing, if you log into an account, that is not your own, even with the authorization of the account owner. Shared account will only be infracted, if an issue arises, such as reports of account theft. If such issues arises, both accounts will be investigated and face disciplinary action for account sharing.

Ban evasion by the creation of multiple accounts is not permitted. Doing so, will result in the additional account being terminated, as well as the original displinary action lengthened, leading up to and including, account termination.

Ban Appeals

Collapse

In the real world, have you heard the saying, "I'm going to take this all the way to the Supreme Court?" The Appeals Court of SWG: Prophecy is similar to the Supreme Court, when it comes to appealing Staff Justice.

The losing party in a decision by the SWG: Prophecy Staff has the guaranteed right to appeal that decision to the highest authority, which is, the Appeals Court.

Who Are The Parties?

In all cases, either side may appeal a verdict handed down, whether it is a Staff Member or a member of the Community, which are:

Appellant

The party who filed an appeal, is known as the appellany, must show that either the original decision made a legal error that effected the decision in the case, or that the imposed sentence should be reduced or nullified. The appellant prepared a written document, or brief, discussing the legal arguments. In the brief, the appellant tries to explain that the original decision was in error, and that its decision should be reversed. In this process, appellants cite previous prescendent that supports their point of view.

Appellee

The party defending against the appeal, known as the appellee, also has the chance to defend their position as to why the original decision was made to convince the Appellate Board to uphold the original decision and deny the appeal.

How Is The Case Decided?

Oral Argument

Appeals are decided by panels of three judges. These judges are normally the three Project Administrators, unless one is recused due to personal bias, in which case, the recused judge will appoint a replacement for the duration of the case. The Court of Appeals does not receive additional evidence or hear witnesses; rather the judges make their decision based on the written record of the original case or decision, the briefs submitted by the parties, and possibly oral argument.

Although some cases are decided on the basis of written briefs alone, many cases are selected for an oral argument before the court. Oral Argument in the Court is Appeals is present either by the original parties or be appointed representatives. Each side is given a very short time - to present arguments before the court. The panel judges will often ask questions during this time.

The Opinion Of The Court

The decision is not announced at the time of oral argument. Rather, the three judges meet and vote on the outcome. One of the three judges will then write the formal opinion of the court. If the vote is 2-1, the 1 judge in the minority may choose to write a dissenting opinion explaining his or her reasons for disagreeing. Writing the opinion can take a few days or several weeks.

The Court of Appeals, in its opinion, may:

  • Uphold, or Affirm, the Original Decision would stand and nothing would change.
  • Reverse, or Overturn the Original Decision, in effect, granting the Appelant's Petition.
  • Remand, or Send the Original Decision back to Staff for some further action or a New Investigation.

Re-Hearing En Banc

Sometimes, one of the parties can request a Re-Hearing En Banc, which is, a re-hearing by the entire Staff of SWG: Prophecy, rather than by the three-judge panel. The Court of Appeals can Grant or Deny the request. If the request is granted, the Original Opinion of the Appeals Court is vacated and removed from the record, and the new opinion of the Court En Banc, will take its place.

The Court En Banc is decided by majority decision.

The High Court of Appeals

The Court of Appeals decision is the final decision and the end of the road in the Appellate Process. Players are able to appeal by sending an official petition to [email protected]

Any players suspected of or found in violation of this policy, will be removed from the area by CSR Staff.

  9. Role Playing or Testing does not grant license to violate these rules.

Though Star Wars Galaxies™ is a roleplaying game set in the Star Wars Universe, the claim of “roleplay” or “testing” will not be accepted in defense of any of the anti-social behaviors mentioned above. As an example, you are in no case (PvP or otherwise) allowed to “train” a guard onto an enemy in protection of your homeland.
